A Field Guide to Fabric Design Design Print Sell Your Own Fabric Traditional Digital Techniques For Quilting Home Dec Apparel Kim Kight 0884454428852 Books Reviews

  • This is a good book for someone looking to get started in fabric design. It covers all the basics for both digital design and hand printing. It includes a lot of questions and answers from popular fabric designers. It is well organized and has great pictures. Different types of fabric and dyes are also discussed. I would have liked to have seen more info about approaching fabric manufacturers and how to go about getting your designs licensed. It is a great book for someone who is interested in designing fabric and is just beginning.
  • I was looking for a book that described fabric design and repetitive design by hand - not computer. I had thought this would be it, but it got barely a mention. Would be good for someone doing this by computer. Simple explanations are helpful.
  • You know, the cover design is a bit boring and I nearly didn't purchase this book! It's well laid out, the author explains everything clearly and overall it was an informative book from which you can then decide on which direction you'd like to proceed in and learn more about. The feedback from various professional fabric designers as you read through the chapters is also a good feature.
  • I'm not a trained designer but I've been wanting to create my own fabrics. This book inspired me and gave great instruction on how I can get started without being an expert. The amount of information and tutorials is just right, I feel like I aced a Fabric Design 101 course!
  • Useful information, but I didn't like the design and layout of the pages so it took me a lot of time to finish it
  • I hoard books, but this one is so full of very useful information for artists & fabric designers, I had to give it to a friend.
  • I really enjoyed how deep this book goes into fabric designing, great for any novice!
  • Great book that explains so much of how to design and prepare for digital output.
