• I have read both Essential Truths for Teachers and Essential Truths for Principals and enjoyed both books. I found that each provide great insight into why we do what we do each day. It is easy for us as administrators and teachers to get bogged down with the mundane aspects of our daily work, but if we really stop and think about why we do what we do for students and/or teachers and how much we care about each one, how we develop relationships with each one is what truly matters. Dr. Danny Steele and Dr. Todd Whitaker carefully crafted these works that helps capture the true heart of educators. The reminders in the books are valuable to remember and to continue to work on in our daily practice. These are definitely two books that all administrators should have in their library when a boost is needed to remember our why as educators. I plan to share their common-sense insights into our profession with my teachers often.
• Not much effort was put into this book. The authors do not write much. I do not recommend this book. Just read Steele's tweets to learn what he is all about.

• As a fan of both authors on Twitter, I thought this was a quick, practical and excellent read. Within each short chapter were a few immediate take aways to improve upon any administrators’ practice. There are 4 things that I will begin to do differently Monday based on this book. Lastly, this is a great resource to continually review during a year when we get so caught up in ‘what’ we do and often forget ‘why’ we are doing it.
• As a mom and as a principal...My favorite Chapter was 24 - We Would Like Parents to Be Involved at School, But We Need Parents to Be Involved at Home. A grounding book for all principals. Thank you for writing a quick, thoughtful, daily read.
• A must read for any educational leader! Such a good read, could not put it down. Very inspiring!
• This book truly is "essential" for school leaders - specifically principals but is applicable to many other educational leadership positions. Steele and Whitaker lay out very easy to digest "truths" that remind school leaders of the important work to be done with students and the critical role they play in cultivating a positive school culture. I enjoyed the book so much that I bought copies for each of my two assistant principals!
• As an instructional leader, it is easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day. This book gives quick and succinct reminders of what really matters in education... people. The book was like a breath of fresh air. It didn't tout specific policies, procedures, etc... It just reminded me of what was important. It was uplifting, inspiring, and it made me want to be the best leader I can possibly be. If you're looking for some quick inspiration on a tough day, give "Essential Truths for Principals" a try.
